The plant is set to have a total capacity of 10MW.

Jordan Energy Minister Mohammad Hamed was quoted by the Jordan Times as saying, "This project is of great importance to the country and is part of several projects that Jordan seeks to implement to increase the production of electricity through renewable energy."

The government is also planning to sign agreements with local and international by late March 2014 to build ten solar energy projects having combined capacity of 140MW.

The new plant is expected to start operations and connect to the grid during the last quarter of 2015.

Arabia One chairman Mohannad Khalifeh said, "Electricity generated through solar energy projects such as ours is much cheaper than energy produced through diesel or heavy fuel."
