Under the terms of the agreement, which marks the beginning of collaboration on a series of identified opportunities for both nuclear new builds and existing plants, the team will initially collaborate to supply instrumentation & control (I&C) systems to Hungary’s current and future nuclear reactors.

Areva Western & Northern Europe sales senior vice president Frank Apel said: "This agreement with EVOPRO strengthens our relationship with the Hungarian nuclear industry and supports our localization initiative for new builds and modernization projects."

Additionally, Evopro, which has completed Areva’s supplier pre-qualification program, can take part in future projects.

Evopro systems engineering managing director Balázs Bodnár said: "The agreement goes further and strengthens our ties for the delivery of quality projects in Hungary and abroad.

"Professional recognition, national and international references in many industries including nuclear plant control system testing & commissioning, and the continuous, close collaboration in education with the Institute of Nuclear Techniques (INT) of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) have all led to this agreement."

Hungary Foreign Affairs and Trade Deputy Minister Dr László Szabó said: "It also contributes to the Hungarian Government’s foreign economic policy goals, which aim at strengthening the domestic small and medium enterprises and facilitating the export of services, technologies and know-how."
