The Safety-Related Digital I&C System Teleperm XSTM is included in the design for new nuclear plants, like the EPR reactor, and for the upgrading and modernization of existing plants of virtually all types and from all main suppliers.
Mike Rencheck, chief operating officer of Areva, said: “This NRC approval represents a major milestone for the US nuclear industry. The approval is the culmination of a rigorous and systematic review process by the NRC of our global digital I&C technology (Teleperm XSTM). Now that it is complete, a digital I&C benchmark is available for the entire nuclear industry.”
The company said that worldwide 55 units have implemented or ordered Teleperm XSTM systems since its first installation more than 10 years ago.
