Atkins has been chosen to carry out the role of investor’s supervisor for the four and a half year project, which will see a team of 40 staff reviewing design, supervising construction and bringing the complex project into operational use.

The company claims that the LNG terminal, due to open in 2014, will receive natural gas by sea from virtually any direction in the world, which will increase Poland’s energy security.

Steve Novis, managing director of Atkins in Poland, said: “This is a major investment by Polskie LNG and it will require precision project management to ensure the concept can be taken through to reality.

“To make sure the project is successful Atkins has established an exceptional technical team combining industry and construction experts from around the world. The team has specific experience in LNG and will bring the highest standards to this flagship project.”
