The vehicle, which is deployed in Chicago, uses compressed natural gas technology (CNG), and is one of 165 AFVs deployed by AT&T in Illinois.

The vehicles are part of AT&T’s planned ten-year initiative to invest about $565m to replace nearly 15,000 fleet vehicles with alternative fuel models through 2018.

AT&T said it also operates a mix of other AFVs in its fleet in the state and nationwide, including all-electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.

In the state of Illinois, the company operates 84 hybrid-electric vehicles and 81 CNGs.

Through 2013, AT&T anticipates it will purchase nearly 8,000 CNG vehicles at an anticipated cost of $350m.

AT&T is a provider of wireless, Wi-Fi, high speed Internet, voice and cloud-based services.
