The company is responsible for project implementation.
The municipality Saas-Balen and Kraftwerke Mattmark’s (KWM) plans call for the development of a 4.6MW independent hydroelectric plant above the waterfall in Saas-Balen in the canton of Wallis.
The hydroelectric plant is expected to generate approximately 12GWh annually for supplying electricity to some 3,100 households.
The project construction is expected to commence in 2018 at the earliest while operations will start towards the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
Renewal of the water rights concession by the municipality of Saas-Balen is a prerequisite for the project.
By the end of 2015, the concession application is likely to be submitted to the municipality of Saas-Balen following which, if approved, the application will be reviewed by the canton of Wallis.
