As per the contract, Balfour Beatty will design and install a 30km section of underground 132kV cable.
The under cable will be used to connect the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm to a new onshore substation at Hedon in East Yorkshire.
The wind farm will consist of a 73 turbine array that will generate around 219MW of electricity, enough energy to power about 170,000 homes.
Balfour Beatty will begin cabling work in late 2012 and E.ON’s entire Humber Gateway project is expected to be complete in late 2015.
