Baltimore Gas and Electric plans to join the city of Baltimore to coordinate infrastructure renewal projects using Envista’s web-based technology.

Envista said that the city and utility will leverage its map-driven service to manage projects and share schedules to maximize its efforts and capital investments in construction and maintenance projects across the city. Envista’s solution is also being piloted by Maryland counties in the Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) service area.

Envista has also said that the city of Baltimore is implementing Envista in several city departments including transportation, water and waste water to facilitate internal coordination of work as well as coordination with BGE.

Baltimore has improved its road network since 2006 through its Orange Cone initiative, and it will use Envista to protect newly constructed roads through better coordination with utilities.

Margaret Martin, division chief of department of transportation, engineering and construction division at BGE, said: Baltimore intends to use Envista to protect newly constructed roads by controlling utilities’ restoration requirements which they need to cut into the new pavement.
