Bayside expects to commence the re-completion work by the month-end. The Woodford shale is said to be an attractive target for unconventional oil and gas development because it is a mature source rock that is widely distributed throughout the southern midcontinent, and because it locally produces oil and gas from naturally fractured intervals in conventionally completed wells.

Estimates indicate that as much as 85% of the oil produced in central and southern Oklahoma originated in the Woodford shale. New technology has brought the Woodford shale into the oil and gas exploration spotlight in recent years, and Bayside and its partners are looking forward to carrying out this test, the company said.

Dallas-based Bayside is an energy exploration, development and production company in the process of building oil and gas reserves and production in some of the hydrocarbon bearing regions of the US.
