The 939-megawatt unit is currently operating at 89 percent power. The plant is expected to reach full power late today.

During the outage, 61 of the 157 fuel assemblies were exchanged. Numerous safety inspections and preventative maintenance and improvement projects were completed to ensure continued safe operations. More than 1,000 temporary contractor workers and FENOC and FirstEnergy employees supplemented the Beaver Valley workforce to complete outage work.

Prior to the outage, Beaver Valley Unit 1 operated safely and reliably, generating more than 11 million megawatt hours of carbon-free electricity since the completion of its last refueling in November 2013.
