The 250MW California Valley Solar Ranch (CVSR) project is placed in San Luis Obispo County, and is receiving engineering, procurement and construction services from Bechtel.
Bechtel Renewable Power division president Ian Copeland said upon completion, the California Valley Solar Ranch will produce clean, renewable energy to meet the power needs of about 100,000 homes.
The company began working on the site in August under a limited notice to proceed agreement.
Construction of the facility is scheduled to take nearly two years.
Bechtel is also currently building the Ivanpah solar thermal power project in the Mojave Desert.
