Telvent claims that the system is based on its advanced-technology supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system. High-technology gas measurement devices will be included to feed pipeline data to the SCADA system and to integrated pipeline modeling applications.

A high-speed, redundant fiber optic network delivers real-time pipeline data to operators at main control centers and remote centers located along the pipeline, Telvent said.

According to the company, the complete information management system optimizes security and operational efficiency of the new BEP pipeline – connecting gas storage facilities in Germany with the natural gas pipeline network in the Netherlands – and helps assure reliable delivery of natural gas to Western Europe.

Ignacio Gonzalez, CEO of Telvent, said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by Bunde Etzel Pipeline to install the control system for this important pipeline.

“Our leading technology and project capabilities enable BEP to start up this new pipeline on time and operate it in the most efficient manner.”
