Under the $3.9bn contract, Bechtel will design, construct and commission two liquefaction trains using the ConocoPhillips optimized cascade technology.

The trains will be built next to the existing facilities at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal, which include five tanks, two docks and vaporizers with regasification capacity of 4.0 billion cubic feet per day.

The construction is scheduled to start in 2012, on receipt of necessary authorization from the FERC and the LNG exports are expected to occur in early 2015.
