Under a memorandum of agreement, BG Group will act as the aggregator of liquefied natural gas (LNG) demand for Singaporean gas users. The group will be responsible for sourcing and supplying LNG from its growing and flexible global portfolio.

Initial deliveries are expected to begin in 2012 to coincide with the completion of the LNG import terminal which will be located on Jurong Island in Singapore. The Energy Market Authority (EMA) has designated PowerGas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Power, to build, own and operate this facility.

Martin Houston, BG Group’s executive vice president and managing director for Americas and global LNG, said: This agreement will underpin our commitment to support Singapore’s long-term energy goals. We look forward to deploying our global market reach and expertise to meet the needs of Singaporean gas users.
