The project, located in the Muong La district, comprises two Pelton type hydro generating units of 100MW each.

Equipment supplied by the company included hydro turbines, generators, transformers, controls, monitoring, protection system and switchgear.

Funded by a Line of Credit by the Indian government, the project marks BHEL’s foray into the growing Vietnamese hydro power sector and strengthens its position in the South-East Asian region.

The scope of the contract secured by BHEL includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply and supervision of installation besides commissioning of the entire electro-mechanical equipment package for the project.

The hydro power project will largely benefit the Son La province of Vietnam.

The country’s electricity sector has been projected to grow at an annual rate of 16% that offers BHEL further opportunities.
