The first 800MW boiler of the coal-fired power plant was commissioned in August last year by BHEL for Andhra Pradesh Power Development Company (APPDCL), which is a 50-50 joint venture company formed between APGENCO and IL AND FS.

For the project, the company is responsible for manufacturing, supplying, erecting, testing and commissioning of the boilers and associated auxiliaries including electrostatic precipitators (ESPs).

BHEL manufactured the key equipment for the project at its facility in Trichy, Hyderabad, Ranipet and Bengaluru plants.

The company’s Power Sector – Southern Region will undertake the construction work of the project.

The Indian power manufacturer has commissioned 84% of coal-based power facilities in Andhra Pradesh, which was split into two states; Andhra Pradesh and Telengana in 2014.
