The move follows the commissioning of the first and second units, each with 660MW capacity, at the Lalitpur project located in Lalitpur in Bundelkhand district of Uttar Pradesh.

Bhel is developing the Lalitpur project under a Rs54.5bn ($1.22bn) contract received from Lalitpur Power Generation Company (LPGCL), a Bajaj Group company, in 2011.

Under the contract, Bhel is responsible for the main plant of the 3x660MW power plant.

The first of the three units was commissioned by the integrated power plant equipment manufacturer Bhel in September 2015.

The company manufactured key equipment for the project at its Haridwar, Trichy, Hyderabad and Bengaluru facilities.

Bhel’s Power Sector – Northern Region was responsible for the construction of the plant.

In December 2015, bhel commissioned a 660MW unit at the Prayagraj STPP in Allahabad district, Uttar Pradesh.

Till date, the firm has secured orders for 48 sets of supercritical boilers and 41 sets of supercritical turbine generators by various customers in the country.
