Valued at INR21.75 billion, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract has been awarded to Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) by the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) for setting up a 1x600MW thermal power generating unit at the North Chennai thermal power station in Tamil Nadu.
BHEL said that this is the second order secured by it for the new rating unit of 600MW designed to sub critical parameters and is a testimony to the customers’ confidence in the company’s capabilities and proven technological excellence.
TNEB has earlier placed a similar EPC contract on BHEL for setting up a 600MW thermal power generating unit at the same power station. For the contract, the boiler and its auxiliaries will be manufactured by BHEL at its Tiruchirapalli and Ranipet works in Tamil Nadu, while the steam turbine and generator will be manufactured at the company’s Haridwar plant.
The pumps and heat exchangers will be manufactured at its Hyderabad plant and electricals at the Bhopal plant, while the controls and instrumentation system will be supplied by BHEL’s electronics division in Bangalore.
