The Stybarrow project involves a nine well subsea development and a floating production storage and offtake facility known as the Stybarrow Venture, which has a capacity of approximately 80,000 barrels of oil a day.

Michael Yeager, CEO of BHP Billiton’s petroleum unit, said that the development was another key milestone in the growth of the company’s petroleum business and expansion of the petroleum unit’s operated projects.

First oil was scheduled for early 2008; however we’re pleased that we were able to deliver Australia’s deepest offshore development to date ahead of schedule, Mr Yeager revealed.
