The single-column tension leg platform (TLP) is designed to handle up to 50,000 barrels of oil per day and 50 million cubic feet per day of natural gas. The facility has recently undergone remediation to strengthen the structural components inside the hull’s pontoons.
Neptune, located approximately 120 miles off the Louisiana coastline, is the first standalone deepwater production platform in the Gulf of Mexico operated by BHP Billiton.
