Three proposals to develop the 100MW Kotli hydropower project on the Poonch River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir are currently being evaluated by the government of Pakistan.

The bids, received following an international tender, come from CWE Investment Corporation of China, Thailand’s Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding and Sachal Engineering Works of Pakistan.

The $170M project is a key part of Pakistan’s IPP programme, which aims to boost power generation capacity, and is to developed on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis.

The proposals are to be evaluated in the shortest possible time based on technical and financial credentials of the applicants, Pakistan’s Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) said. Prequalified bidders would then progress to the next stage of the tender process.
