The offshore oil rig located at West Delta 32 Block in the Gulf of Mexico is about 27.3km southeast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, US.

As soon as the incident was reported to the local and federal emergency response agencies, The National Response Center, US Coast Guard and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, began a joint rescue effort and evacuation operation.

Most of the crew has been evacuated, of which four are being treated in local hospitals, while two have been reported still missing.

The US Coast Guard vessels and aircraft assisted with company personnel have been continuously looking for the missing crew.

The non-operating platform fire was extinguished within an hour.
