The company secured the state certificate of environmental compatibility and public need from the Ohio Power Siting Board.

The project is located in Crawford and Richland Counties on about 15,000 acres of agricultural land.

The approved permit allows Black Fork Wind to select from several turbine technologies giving the project the flexibility to utilize the most competitive technology.

Energy generated by the project will be equivalent to the power requirements of the 55,000 homes.

Commercial operations are scheduled to commence as early as 2013.
