The move will result in a $10.49m, or 4.91%, increase in annual utility revenues with remaining costs, which have yet to be incurred, being recouped through the company’s normal energy cost adjustment and transmission cost adjustment filings.

In April 2011, the company filed the original rate request for a $40.2m, or 18.84%, increase in electric utility revenues.

According to the company, the new electric service rates will be implemented on 1 January 2012.

A typical Black Hills Energy residential customer in southern Colorado using 600kWh of power each month will pay about $17.50 more per month.

A typical small-business customers using 2,300kWh per month will pay about $63.78 more per month.

Black Hills Energy currently serves about 94,000 electric customers in 21 southeastern Colorado communities.
