The company has picked 11 out of 12 candidates to enter second round after an evaluation of preliminary bids in the first phase, reported Reuters.

The shortlisted firms are China Machinery Engineering Corp, Harbin Electric International, Sepco Electric Power Construction, and two consortia led by China Gezhouba Group and Sepco III Electric Power Construction.

Siemens, Hitachi, Hungary’s MVM OVIT National Power Line, Spain’s Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, Turkish Cengiz Enerji Sanayii, and a consortium led by Toshiba were also shortlisted.

The project calls for investment of about BAM1.5bn ($997m). It will be one of the largest investments in Bosnia’s energy infrastructure, where ageing coal-fired plants face rising consumption.

EPBiH operates two coal-fired plants with a combined capacity of 1,165MW, in addition to three hydro-power plants with a combined output of 517MW.
