Under the agreement, BrightFarms will finance, build and operate the greenhouse, which will grow Ultra Local produce for McCaffrey’s.
Under the long-term produce purchase agreement, McCaffrey’s will buy the produce from the greenhouse.
The operations at McCaffrey’s stores eliminate cross-continent shipping and distribution for the parties.
McCaffery’s Markets Jim McCaffrey said owner and CEO the greenhouse allows the company to continue providing to the customers the freshest and highest quality produce.
"The greenhouse also fits right into our company philosophy to make as small an impact on the environment as possible," McCaffrey said.
BrightFarms designs, finances, builds and operates hydroponic greenhouse farms, at or near, grocery retailers.
