Energy companies EdF and Iberdrola have also reportedly approached British Energy to acquire the entire stake, including the 35% held by the UK government.
Centrica is also reportedly keen on the bid. Thomson Financial has reported that Centrica is holding talks with both Iberdrola and EdF on a power offtake contract if either of the companies succeeds in its bid.
