Broadwind Energy will develop the towers at its facility in Abilene, Texas. The company will begin delivering the tower by Q4 of fiscal 2013.

Broadwind Energy CEO Peter Duprey said that this order starts to fill the capacity in Abilene facility into 2014.

"This provides our tower business with better visibility further into the future. We continue to be pleased with the demand for domestically produced wind towers in the United States," Duprey added.

The wind industry is expected to see a slowdown this year following a record 13,000MW of installed capacity last year as developers competed to finish projects before the expiry of tax credit on 31 December.

The tax credit was renewed for wind projects that will commence construction by 2013 end, which will boost demand in the coming years with the planning and construction of new power facilities, Bloomberg reports.
