Following completion of the combination, unitholders of Brookfield Renewable Power Fund received one limited partnership unit of Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners in exchange for each trust unit of the fund held, and the fund was wound up.
Brookfield Asset Management now owns 73% of the new renewable energy business on a fully-exchanged basis, while the remaining 27% is held by the public.
Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners will focus on renewable energy generation with over $13bn of power assets in Canada, the US and Brazil.
