Run-of-mine production from the company’s Magdalena underground and opencast operations, near Dundee, in KwaZulu-Natal, was 354,000 tons, when compared to 207,000 tons in Q4 2014.

The Aviemore mine, also in KwaZulu-Natal, produced 119, 000 tons, an increase of 16.7% quarter-on-quarter basis.

The company’s long-term vision is to build a bituminous and metallurgical coal mining and supply firm.

Buffalo Coal said: "Future production growth is set to be twofold, firstly through expansion and optimization of the existing BC Dundee operations and secondly through acquisition in the Southern African region.

"The Group will continue to pursue attractive expansion opportunities where it is believed that such opportunities will be synergistic and value enhancing to the existing business, while not removing the focus on the existing Dundee operations."

With operations in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Buffalo Coal provides thermal coal, anthracite and calcine into both domestic and export markets.
