The two interested parties discussed on the Russian-Bulgarian cooperation related to the gas sector and paid special attention to the execution of the South Stream project.

Gazprom along with its partners is constructing the 2,380km long pipeline to transport natural gas produced from Russia to European countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, and Italy through the Black Sea.

The 900km long offshore section of the pipeline project will run under the Black Sea from the Russkaya compressor station to the Bulgarian coast.

South Stream gas pipeline is expected to have a total capacity of 63 billion cubic meters.

Bulgarian government and Gazprom agreed that the natural gas pipeline project in Bulgaria will boost the economic growth in the country and see a direct investment of about EUR3.5bn.

The two parties are closely cooperating while designing the pipeline facilities and performing the EIA.
