The environmental equipment will be installed at Northern Indiana Public Service Co’s R.M. Schahfer power station in Wheatfield.

The company, through its Babcock & Wilcox Construction Co subsidiary, will erect and install two B&W-designed wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) absorber vessels, and associated reagent slurry preparation and dewatering equipment for the facility’s 465MW Unit 14 and 515MW Unit 15 coal-fired utility boilers.

The company will also procure and erect the absorber and dewatering island structural steel for the wet FGD systems.

Start-up of the Unit 14 at the Schahfer power plant is scheduled for 2013, while start-up of the Unit 15 is scheduled for 2015.
