The facility will be located on a new greenfield site adjacent to an existing power plant which was delivered by BWSC to Grand Bahama Power in 2005.

As the main contractor, BWSC is responsible for the technical and commercial aspects of the project, which will be constructed by a consortium of BWSC and MAN Diesel & Turbo.

The new facility is based on 6 x MAN Diesel 18V32/40 medium speed HFO engine-generator sets configured to anticipate unusually heavy load variations and spinning reserve requirements initiated from dredging operations in Freeport Harbour, BWSC said.

Taking over of the new power plant is scheduled during the summer 2012.
