Norway-based Det norske oljeselskap, specializing in extracting petroleum resources on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, has completed drilling the well and will now plug and abandon it.
The dry Geite exploration well encountered only Triassic reservoir sandstones but no hydrocarbons.
Det norske oljeselskap is the operator of PL 497 with 35% interest whereas the Cairn Energy through its subsidiary Agora Oil and Gas owns 15%, Bridge Energy holds 15%, Dana Petroleum Norway has 25%, and Lotos Exploration and Production owns 10% interest.
