The two utilities have selected and implemented Elster’s EnergyAxis system, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) solution that provides two-way communication for electricity, water and natural gas meters.

City of Palo Alto Utilities, which serves about 29,000 customers, selected Elster as its partner for its Residential Customer Connect Pilot which will begin in 2013.

SVP selected Elster’s EnergyAxis system and Tropos Networks’ Gridcom WAN solution for the implementation of its AMI to cover 51,000 electric and 27,000 water meters.

Elster’s comprehensive smart grid security solution for these utilities is expected to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, and auditability throughout their networks.
