The scope of the contract will include engineering, procurement and construction services alongside operations and maintenance of the project in Ontario, Canada.

Canadian Solar chairman and chief executive officer Shawn Qu remarked that this utility-scale solar installation will be the third project in this partnership and will contribute to the growth of solar power in the region.

Penn Energy Renewables official Sean McCloskey added, "Our mission is to provide homes, businesses and schools with solar power that connects directly to existing electrical distribution lines. It is critical to our success that we have a strong EPC partner, which we have found with Canadian Solar."

Construction of the project is expected to commence towards the end of 2012 with operational date schedule for Q3 in 2013.
