Cavico has excavated 4,367ft of 8ft wide tunnels at the power plant, located on the Song Giang River, southwest of Khanh Hoa Province, which is 31 miles from Nha Trang city.
The hydropower plant, which has a total estimated investment value of approximately $50m, will be connected to the national grid to help ease the shortage of electricity supply in the country.
Upon completion, the 37MW hydropower plant is expected to generate 141 million kWh of electricity annually and to generate approximately $10m in total revenues for the company.
In January 2009, Cavico was awarded a contract to excavate a total of 2.8 miles for a headrace tunnel, two sub-tunnels, and a 138ft high surge shaft.
