The Gorgon project will develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields situated between 130 kms and 200 kms off the northwest coast of western Australia.

According to CB&I, the gas fields contain approximately 40 trillion cubic feet of gas.

The scope of the contract includes the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning support for the construction of three LNG trains, including associated utilities and a domestic gas processing and compression plant.

The three LNG trains will have a total capacity 15 million tonnes per annum and the contract is expected to be completed in 2015.

CBI Kentz JV, a joint venture between CB&I and Kentz, will execute the contract.

The Gorgon project, operated by an Australian subsidiary of Chevron, is a joint venture of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (about 47% interest), ExxonMobil (25%), Shell (25%), Osaka Gas (1.25%), Tokyo Gas (1%) and Chubu Electric Power (0.417%).
