Ubbink East Africa plans to develop about 30,000 photovoltaic (PV) modules per annum, especially for small solar systems.

The company will manufacture smaller complete systems, which provide an off-grid, environmentally-friendly power supply.

Application areas are private residences, village power systems or solar PV systems for schools, hospitals, for the water supply system and telecommunications.

Using cutting-edge European technology, the new factory is producing more than 100 high quality, Kenya Bureau of Standards certified solar panels a day.

Ubbink East Africa is part of the joint venture between the Dutch company Ubbink BV and Chloride Exide, a supplier of batteries and solar technology.
