Skoda Praha, the company’s subsidiary, would construct the plant and invest into the 841MW power generator facility.

The company decided to construct a power plant as part of its drive to lessen greenhouse gas emissions via construction of gas-fired power generation projects in Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and other countries in the European Union.

The company informed that Siemens SIEG.DE of Germany would supply two gas turbines with a capacity of 284MW each for the Pocerady plant. A steam turbine with a capacity of 273MW would be supplied by Skoda Power.

For the 15-year supply contract, the company has selected RWE for the supply of natural gas to the power plant.

The plant is expected to be operational by 2013.
