The consortium is developing the Camisea natural gas reserves to attract economic development in the petrochemical industry. The notification has been received from Pluspetrol Peru, which is managing the bidding process on behalf of the consortium.
Subject to the successful negotiation of a natural gas supply agreement, and the completion of the necessary engineering, development, financing and approvals, CF Industries would construct a world-scale ammonia plant.
Stephen Wilson, chairman and CEO, said: Strategically, it would be an important growth initiative for CF Industries, not only providing access to new, growing markets, but also diversifying our sources of natural gas for the company’s nitrogen fertilizer operations.
The company is to begin discussions on development of the natural gas supply agreement.
