The company filed on 1 March 2011 to serve residential, commercial and industrial load in the service territories of Allegheny Power, Baltimore Gas and Electric, Delmarva Power and Potomac Electric Power.
Champion Energy president and CEO Scott Fordham said Champion’s entry into Maryland’s deregulated electricity markets is a logical next step for the company.
"We look forward to building on a successful track record in the Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania markets as Champion Energy extends its footprint," Fordham said.
US-based Champion Energy currently serves residential, governmental, commercial and industrial customers in deregulated electric energy markets in Texas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Jersey, with Maryland slated for fourth quarter of this year.
