The Chevron unit is drilling the relief well using the Transocean Baltic rig to extinguish a fire that began last month at the original well, located about six miles off the coast of Nigeria.
The company said no oil was spilled or has flowed from this natural gas well, and the drilling plans will enable the cementing and abandonment of the Funiwa 1A well.
