The 640MW Rio Cuervo project in Chile’s southern Aysen region has been given the greenlight by authorities in Chile.
The SEA environmental regulator this week approved the $733M project’s environmental permit, newswires reported.
The project is being developed by Energia Austral, a joint venture between Australia’s Origin Energy and mining company Glencore Xstrata. It was originally approved last year, but work was suspended when a court asked for further environmental studies.
Two new studies and an updated monitoring plan were subsequently submitted and approved.
