Adding to these two hydro projects are the wind farms Punta Colorada (20MW), owned and operated by Barrick Chile, and Canela II (60MW), operated by Endesa Chile and expected to begin operating in November 2009. From the remaining projects, 14 will continue to use diesel, including three owned by Energia Latina, which began operations in January.
In April it is expected that Endesa’s natural-gas plant Quintero I will begin operations (240 MW).
