The Chilean utility Chilgener is to invest $400 million in 1998 in a variety of projects, Reuters reports.

Among those earmarked for investment are the InterAndes power connection, the linking of the Nueva Renca plant to the national grid and the development of fuel storage facility for its subsidiary Petrleos y Asfaltos Cordex.

The company also has a number of projects outside Chile. These include expansion of the Argentine power generator Central Puerto and the start-up of its power and fuel trading subsidiary Merchant Energy Group of Americas. Chilgener has also been examining prospects in Brazil.
