Throughout the month of April, local business and community organizations across the nation will host shredding events powered by Cintas, providing a convenient way to discard confidential documents in a secure and sustainable manner.
For every ton of paper recycled, participants will help save 17 trees, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000kW of energy and 7000 gallons of water.
For each event, local small businesses and community members are encouraged to bring documents that contain personal information such as their name, social security number or financial information, to have it destroyed on a Cintas truck by a NAID certified employee.
The shredded materials will then be recycled into secondary paper products, such as paper towels, to reduce the impact on the environment thereby saving water, reducing green house gas emissions and using 25% less energy than manufacturing paper from trees.
Cintas claimed that its document shredding, storage and imaging programs are designed to provide businesses with data privacy and security, compliance with regulatory requirements and control and access to information.
Jamie Samide, director of marketing at Cintas Document Management, said: ”We are committed to protecting the environment and conserving natural resources through innovative technologies.
”We are proud to join the worldwide celebration of Earth Day and educate communities about the enormous impact they can have on the environment by simply recycling their confidential documents.”
