Elster and its regional distribution partner WESCO Distribution will supply 8,000 residential and 2,000 commercial Elster REX and A3 Alpha Smart Meters to City of Dayton electric customers.

The company’s EnergyAxis solution will provide automated metering infrastructure, that allows the city to modernize its infrastructure to provide customers with clear pricing and usage information through time-of-use rates.

The Dayton Electric Department will oversee the installation of the Elster smart meters, and the AMI project is expected to be completed by September 2012.

Elster North America customers and markets executive vice president David Green said the multi-utility EnergyAxis system provides the city with advanced metering services, reducing outages, improving operational efficiencies and delivering new customer services for the management of personal energy consumption and rates.
