The liquefied natural gas (LNG) fleet currently uses approximately 3.5 million gallons of clean-burning LNG fuel each year. Fleet fuel volumes are expected to increase as diesel trucks in the 700 truck fleet continue to be replaced with LNG refuse vehicles.

Clean Energy has sourcing contracts with six LNG plants in the western US. The company also operates its own LNG plant near Houston, Texas. When Clean Energy’s new California LNG plant becomes operational later in 2008, it will produce up to 160,000 gallons of LNG per day and have over 1.5 million gallons of LNG storage.

Andrew Littlefair, Clean Energy’s president and CEO, said: We are pleased to launch our LNG supply relationship with the City of Los Angeles, and are committed to providing reliable, cost-efficient fueling services, ensuring the city that its refuse trucks roll out daily to meet community needs. Reliable fuel supply is a critical factor for refuse agencies and we have worked hard to be the leader in the field.
