The company, as per the contracts, will provide new propane autogas refueling infrastructure equipment to power school buses running on propane autogas.

Austin, Houston and Arlington are some of the districts set to have the new infrastructure installed as part of the $12.6m and $3.1m grants secures from the US EPA and the State Energy Conservation Office respectively.

CleanFUEL USA founder and CEO Curtis Donaldson said, "Propane autogas continues to gain momentum across the country as fleet managers in both the private and public sectors do the math and realize it makes incredible sense to use a domestically-produced alternative fuel that costs less than gas and diesel and has a smaller environmental footprint."

Lawmakers in Texas have cut public education financing by nearly $5.4bn forcing schools to look at various options to reduce costs.

Alvin Independent School District transportation director Jim Abney added, "Enabling our school buses to run on an alternative fuel that is nearly half the cost of gas and diesel – and is cleaner burning, is a no brainer."
